AF304 Practicum in Air Carrier Operations

Prerequisites:
  • Successful completion of AF 207B
  • Consent of Aviation Flight Department
Course Description:

Students gain practical experience and training by participating as flight officers on passenger aircraft flights. Enables students to practice, under close supervision, the role of first officer within a passenger carrier format. Course includes 20 hours of flight time and a minimum of 40 hours pre- and post-flight activities and instruction.

Learning Outcomes:
  • To learn how to fly passengers in a safe and comfortable manner.
  • To lean basic professional pilot skills.
Course Format:

This course is taught through ground lessons and through flying actual passengers (members of the SIU community) to various destinations in the Midwest. 

Upon completion, student receives Pass/Fail rather than a letter grade.
