SIUC Aviation offers an outstanding, comprehensive aviation program offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation.- SIUC Aviation has three different undergraduate majors including Aviation Flight, Aviation Management and Aviation Technologies.
- The Aviation Flight program is fully accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI)
- SIUC Aviation has a non-engineering masters program in aviation, the Master of Public Administration in Aviation Administration.
- SIUC Aviation owns a fleet of 36 aircraft to support its Aviation Flight program and another 25+ to support its Aviation Technologies Program.
- SIUC Aviation has an operational Boeing 737-222 aircraft that it uses in support of its Aviation programs.
- SIUC Aviation is building a 200,000 square foot-plus Transportation Education Center at the Southern Illinois Airport which will allow all aviation and automotive programs access to the latest technology and newest facilities in the industry. Estimated completion is Fall 2012.
- SIUC Aviation offers outstanding aviation internship opportunities for its aviation students in all parts of the aviation industry including formal flight operations internship agreements with several airlines.
- SIUC Aviation offers an extern program over Spring Break each year which provides students a chance to connect with selected aviation employers for an intensive one week period of networking, work and tours.
- SIUC Aviation is home to the nation's only Helicopter Maintenance Specialization in its Aviation Technology degree program.
- SIUC Aviation offers air traffic controller training and education programs and including a Minor in Air Traffic Control starting in 2011.
- SIUC Aviation's Flying Salukis collegiate flight team which has won first in the nation 8 times in NIFA competitions and were #1 in the nation in 2011.
- SIUC Aviation is home to six excellent Aviation Student Organizations including Alpha Eta Rho, Aviation Ambassadors, Aviation Management Society, Flying Salukis, Women in Aviation and Rotor Wing Association of America.
